Searching Standard: Mega Manectric ex

Hello and welcome to another episode of Searching Standard, where each and every week I look for new, innovative decks for you to play in Standard. This week, I'm looking at a deck that was recently featured on the YouTube channel of LittleDarkFury. It features Mega Manectric ex MEG 50, whose attacks are great against all stages of opposing Pokemon. Let's get started by taking a look at the deck list.

Mega Manectric ex MEG 50 has two terrific attacks which you will find to be helpful. First is Flash Ray, which prevents Mega Manectric ex MEG 50 from taking any damage on the following turn from the attacks of Basic Pokemon. Then you have Riotous Blasting, which deals a base amount of 200 damage. If you need to deal more to Knock Out your opponent's Active Pokemon, you can choose to discard all Energy attached to Mega Manectric ex MEG 50 to deal an additional 130 damage. That makes Mega Manectric ex MEG 50 poised to be a great attacker no matter what Stage of Pokemon it's up against.

By utilizing Miraidon ex SVI 81's Tandem Unit Ability, you'll be able to quickly fill your Bench up with Basic Lightning Type Pokemon. This is the main reason for the inclusion of Miraidon ex SVI 81 in this deck, but in a pinch, you can certainly use its Photon Blaster attack if you need to.

As far as alternative attackers go, this deck has a few. Zekrom ex BLK 34's Voltage Burst attack is great to use against an opponent who has gotten the jump on you in taking Prize cards. Iron Hands ex PRE 31 has a pair of attacks that are both great, but remember that you can take an extra Prize card when you Knock Out an opposing Pokemon by using the Amp You Very Much attack. There's also a copy of Mew ex MEW 151, who can use any of your opponent's attacks against them. Additionally, Mew ex MEW 151 has the Restart Ability, which helps you draw additional cards, so it's often better to keep Mew ex MEW 151 on your Bench if you have other Pokemon who are able to attack.

By activating Eelektrik BLK 31's Dynamotor Ability, you'll be able to reuse Basic Lightning Energy from your discard pile to power up your Benched Pokemon. By using this Ability as often as you can, you'll keep your team powered up and ready to attack as needed.

Squawkabilly ex PAF 75 is a great Pokemon to draw in your starting hand, allowing you greater card advantage when you use its Squawk and Seize Ability. Fezandipiti ex SFA 38's Flip the Script Ability also offers you card advantage, as well as a way to regain your footing after suffering a Knock Out.

A playset of Electric Generator PAF 79 is included in this deck to help you accelerate your Energy attachment. If you have a copy of Academy at Night SFA 54 in play when you play Electric Generator PAF 79, you'll be able to ensure that you can find some Energy to attach. Attaching Future Booster Energy Capsule TEF 149 to Iron Hands ex PRE 31 helps make it more mobile in the arena by removing its Retreat Cost, plus it provides a damage boost when it attacks.

To help you find the Pokemon you need, this deck includes a playset of both Nest Ball PAF 84, which can find only Basic Pokemon, and Ultra Ball PAF 91, which can be used to find any Pokemon you need. There's also a copy of Bravery Charm PAL 173 that you can attach to a Basic Pokemon to give it an additional 50 HP.

Both Boss’s Orders PAL 172 and Prime Catcher TEF 157 allow you to choose which of your opponent's Pokemon you want to attack. Prime Catcher TEF 157 also helps you move a powered up Pokemon into your Active Spot to attack with.

For even more mobility, this deck includes a copy of Air Balloon BLK 79, which reduces the Retreat Cost of the Pokemon it is attached to by 2 Energy, and Switch MEG 130, which swaps your Active Pokemon for one from your Bench. Both will help you maintain any advantage you might have.

Arven SVI 166 is one of the most versatile Supporters in Standard, allowing you to find any Item you would like from your deck. Additionally, you can also find a Pokemon Tool, though most decks have considerably fewer Pokemon Tools than Items. Lillie's Determination MEG 119 is the new premier way of drawing new cards in Standard. She's found in nearly every Standard deck, so be sure to pick up a playset to use in whatever deck you try out. Finally, there's a copy of Night Stretcher SFA 61, which allows you the opportunity to put either a Basic Energy or a Pokemon from your discard pile into your hand.

Wrapping Up

This is a bit of a 'Tool Box' deck, as it has various tools (Pokemon) you can use throughout the game. While Mega Manectric ex MEG 50 might be an all-star in some games, there might be other games where you hardly use it at all.

What do you think of this deck? Do you have any suggestions for improvements? Let me know by leaving a comment below. And be sure to join me here again next week as I continue my search for innovative decks in the Pokemon TCG. I'll see you then!
