Release Date Details

Theme & Anticipated Cards
It’s clear that the theme for the Mega Evolutions 2 set is focused on the Mega Charizard X ex card. There is some unconfirmed speculation on which other cards will join Mega Charizard, with some experts predicting that there will be new prints of various other Mega cards.
The ex cards are all expected to have super-powerful moves and higher HP than the other cards in the collection. These cards are mentioned in the official release announcement, but we still haven’t seen the reveal of new prints from Pokémon. While Ishihara revealed both Mega Gardevoir ex and Mega Lucario ex cards, here are a few more of the officially announced cards.
Official Mega Releases

Mega Charizard X ex: This is the flagship card and the most valuable. Incredibly overpowered, players can use the Inferno X attack to one-shot enemies, as it has no damage cap when used by discarding Fire Energy.

Mega Gengar ex: This Darkness-type Pokémon also offers powerful functionality when used in conjunction with confusion tactics and energy engines.

Mega Lopunny ex: This card is confirmed to have gotten the Special Rare Illustration enhancements.

Mega Sharpedo ex: Another Darkness-type Pokemon, this card can be competitive when damaged, as it can get its own attacks up to 270 damage.
- Mega Diance ex: Part of the original Mega Evolution release, this card will also be in the Mega Evolution 2 as a Psychic-type that can reduce damage done to it.
The Mega Charizard X ex card is expected to have both Mega Hyper Rare and Special Illustration Rare, potentially making it the most valuable find in the Phantasmal Flames release.

Toxtricity: This card will allow you to search your deck for a basic Darkness Energy and immediately attach it to a bench Darkness Pokémon.

Empoleum ex: Could be used as a Water-type control piece.

Oricorio ex: Allows you to accelerate as many Fire Energy cards as you want from your hand to the bench, as long as you have a Mega Fire Evolution in play.
- Mismagius ex: One of the most frustrating cards for your opponent to use, it causes Confusion when you switch Pokémon.
