Searching Standard: Mega Latias ex

Hello and welcome to another episode of Searching Standard, where each and every week I look for new, innovative decks for you to play in Standard. This week, I'm looking at a deck that was recently featured on the YouTube channel of LittleDarkFury. It features Mega Latias ex ME1 100, who is able to hit and run very effectively. The main attack you'll want to use from Mega Latias ex ME1 100 is Strafe. For just a single Energy, you'll deal 40 damage to your opponent's Active Pokemon. Strafe also allows you the option of switching Mega Latias ex ME1 100 with a Pokemon from your Bench. You'll almost always want to do this, as long as you have the combo the next two Pokemon provide.

By activating Brute Bonnet PAR 123's Toxic Powder Ability, you'll be able to make both Active Pokemon Poisoned. You will need to have an Ancient Booster Energy Capsule PAR 159 attached to Brute Bonnet PAR 123 in order to activate this Ability, but, as you'll see, that shouldn't be too difficult. After attacking with Mega Latias ex ME1 100's Strafe attack, you'll usually want to switch it with Pecharunt SVP 149 in order to take advantage of the extra damage counters Pecharunt SVP 149's Toxic Subjugation Ability provides.

Both Bloodmoon Ursaluna ex TWM 141 and Mew ex MEW 151 can act as backup attackers. In the late game, Bloodmoon Ursaluna ex TWM 141 might be able to attack with its Blood Moon attack for free, with the help of its Seasoned Skill Ability. Mew ex MEW 151's Genome Hacking uses an opponent's attacks against them, plus its Restart Ability can help keep new cards coming your way.

Squawkabilly ex PAF 75 is also included in this deck as a way for you to draw additional cards, with the use of its Squawk and Seize Ability. Fezandipiti ex SFA 38's Flip the Script Ability can help you recover the turn after you have a Pokemon get Knocked Out. Then there's Mimikyu PAL 97, who won't be able to be damaged when facing certain decks, thanks to its Safeguard Ability.

Latias ex SSP 76 is included in this deck mainly for the use of its Skyliner Ability which removes any Retreat Cost from Basic Pokemon you have in play. Finally, there's Lillie's Clefairy ex JTG 56, whose Fairy Zone Ability changes the Weakness of any Dragon Type Pokemon your opponent has in play to Psychic. Lillie's Clefairy ex JTG 56 also has the Full Moon Rondo attack, which can deal quite a bit of damage if both players' benches are full.

By playing Binding Mochi PRE 95 just after activating Brute Bonnet PAR 123's Toxic Powder Ability, you'll be able to deal extra damage with Mega Latias ex ME1 100's Strafe attack. Speaking of extra damage, if you are able to get a copy of Perilous Jungle TEF 156 into play, you'll often get to deal even more damage during Pokemon Checkup to your opponent's Poisoned Pokemon. Secret Box TWM 163 is the ACE SPEC of choice for this deck, allowing you to find an Item, a Pokemon Tool, a Supporter, and a Stadium. It's the ultimate way to search for anything you might need.

Speaking of searching for what you might need, Crispin PRE 105 is here to help you find the Energy you need. He also helps accelerate the amount of Energy you have attached to your team, giving you an advantage over your opponent. Boss's Orders ME1 114 also provides you with an advantage, as you'll be able to choose which of your opponent's Pokemon are in their Active Spot. Choose one that is a lynchpin for your opponent's strategy and Knock them Out right away. This deck also includes a single copy of Pokégear 3.0 BLK 84, which is sure to help you find a Supporter that you can use.

This deck has a lot of great Supporters, and this next batch all help you with card advantage. Lillie's Determination ME1 119 is the premier Supporter to help you draw a new hand of cards in Standard. Playing Carmine TWM 145 lets you discard your current hand and draw a new hand of 5 cards, even on your first turn. Iono PAF 80 resets both players hands, and will often slow down your opponent's momentum by reducing the number of cards they have in hand.

This final batch of cards are generally found in most Standard decks. Both Nest Ball SVI 181 and Ultra Ball ME1 131 will help you find the Pokemon you need, while Night Stretcher SFA 61 offers you a way to reuse Pokemon or Basic Energy that has gone to your discard pile.

Wrapping Up

By keeping constantly in motion, Mega Latias ex ME1 100 will be able to hit and run very effectively. The extra damage that its friends, Brute Bonnet PAR 123 and Pecharunt SVP 149 provide can help you score Knock Outs very quickly.
