New Avengers: Infinity War Trailer Reveals Thanos's Plan
Getting hyped for Avengers: Infinity War? The final trailer dropped today, and with it, Thanos revealed his plans for a better universe. Check it out:
Thanos, also known as The Mad Titan, is the Avengers' most powerful enemy yet. He made brief appearances in Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers: Age of Ultron, but this film will be the first in which he's featured as the lead villain. Thanos will be portrayed by veteran actor Josh Brolin using motion-capture technology.
In an interesting departure from classic villainous objectives, Thanos promises to destroy only half of all humanity, thereby making the universe "perfectly balanced." This suggests more nuance to Thanos's plans, or perhaps even his own version of justice.
In a broader sense, conversation for the film has been dominated by fan speculation that one of the longtime cast members of Marvel's Cinematic Universe will die. If there is a significant character death, many have guessed it will be Tony Stark/Iron Man, played by Robert Downey Jr.
This trailer casts interesting doubt on that assumption. First, we see Thanos squeezing Thor's head rather nastily. Later, we see Steve Rodgers fighting to hold back Thanos's Infinity Gauntlet. Could Thor or Captain America be the ones to meet their ends in this film?
Avengers: Infinity War premieres nationwide on April 27, 2018.
