Magic's R&D Narrative Team Reveals Alternate Endings for Rivals of Ixalan Storyline

According to official Magic: The Gathering lore, the Sun Empire discovered the lost City of Orazca and claimed all of its power. 

Or did they?

Earlier today, Magic fans were treated to three alternate endings for the Rivals of Ixalan storyline. Though none are considered official canon, they're still a treat for readers and proof that the R&D Narrative Team can still surprise us. 

The first alternate ending imagines that the blue-green aligned merfolk win control of the city. Led by Tishana and aided by Huatli, the merfolk realize that they've won the battle, but perhaps not the war; The humans of the Sun Empire will return. Still, the city is theirs for the time being. The piece ends with Tishana choosing a new, slightly more merfolk flavored name for Orazca. 

The second alternate ending shows us what a victory by the white-black aligned vampires might look like. Focusing on Vona, Elenda, and Mavren Fein, this piece gives us a glimpse at the big egos and infighting of the Dusk Legion's best. Funnily enough, it also ends with one of the main characters being eaten by a dinosaur. We won't spoil it for you.

The third and final (and perhaps best) alternate ending explores a victory by the blue-black-red aligned pirates. It's about as piratey as you'd expect, down to ale, sea chanties, and all-caps dialogue.
