MTG x The Hobbit: First Wave of Spoilers

Update: We have preorders for MTG: The Hobbit live right now!

The next crossover set between Magic: The Gathering and the world of J.R.R Tolkien is releasing this summer! The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth set released in 2023 was incredibly popular and introduced a ton of well-known locations and characters to the world of Magic. We've already gotten a few initial spoilers from the upcoming Hobbit set, so let's check them out!

Let's start off with the Basic Lands! On our last visit to Middle-earth, our full-art lands were based on the iconic maps drawn by J.R.R Tolkien himself. This time around it looks like we're getting a variety of different art based on the different locations Bilbo and his company of Dwarves visited on their journey to the Lonely Mountain!

It also looks like we'll be seeing different seasonal themed variations on our full-art basics as well!

Our humble star of this adventure makes his triumphant return with a pair of new cards in Bilbo, Luckwearer and Bilbo, Thief in the Night!

And of course, we have new cards depicting Bilbo's "precious" magic ring, and the battle of wits he won against Gollum in Riddles in the Dark!

Thorin, Mountain-king is here as the leader of our party for this tale. We also have An Unexpected Party depicting the introductory scene between Bilbo and our band of Dwarves!

The Arkenstone will also be making an appearance in this set! The powerful gem that Thorin and company seek out appears to be plenty powerful in its' Magic iteration!

Smaug is finally here in all his majesty! In the previous Lord of the Rings set he only appeared as a token created by There and Back Again, but this time around he's ready to battle in all his terrible treasure-hoarding glory!

Closing out this round of spoilers we have some cards depicting some of the other characters we see on Bilbo's journey, like the trolls Tom, Bert, and William, and a reprint of Wood Elves depicted as Elves of Mirkwood!
