In case you didn't read today's Daily Prophet quite yet, there's big news in the wizarding world. Today we got our first look at Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery, a new role-playing mobile game set in author J.K. Rowling's sprawling multimedia landscape. Check out the trailer below:

In Hogwarts Mystery, players take on the role of new students at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. They choose which house they'd like to enroll in, take lessons from professors, and participate in wizarding duels against fellow students. Players also meet classic Harry Potter characters including Minerva McGonagall, Severus Snape, Rubeus Hagrid, and Albus Dumbledore.

The game is co-produced by California-based game developer Jam City and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment's Portkey Games. Mobile game fans might recognize Jam City as the creator of Avengers Academy, Futurama: Worlds of Tomorrow, and Family Guy: The Quest for Stuff. So far, Portkey Games's credits include only this Harry Potter game and another in the same franchise, entitled Wizards Unite.

This seems like a perfect intersection between a popular gaming platform and a widely successful series of books, movies, and more. Pre-registration for Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is now open. Download and play the game when it releases in Spring of this year.
