It's time for another mono-colored commander deck!

For this one I decided to go with a color I had not made in mono-color yet. I opted to go with mono White kitties. I love Cats, even though they’ve not been the most powerful creature type within the game. There is some non-kitty support within the deck that mainly has synergy with Equipment. I usually like to stick to the theme of the tribe, but for this one I wanted to try and give the Cats a better chance at being a more competitive / powerful deck.

For the Commander, I chose Kemba, Kha Regent.

Basically you want to get Kemba out as soon as you can and get as much Equipment attached to her as possible. Also keep in mind if you don’t have an indestructible Equipment you may want to leave a protection spell up. You could also just run out your other creatures / Cats first and use them as spot removal targets before casting Kemba. The best scenario is to get back around to your turn with some Equipment on her so you can gain the value of free 2/2 Cats. Most of your more powerful cards have interactions with Equipment, whether it be drawing cards from them, or Equipping for free or at a reduced cost.

The creatures with the most Equipment synergies in the deck are: Sram, Senior Edificer, Raksha Golden Cub, Puresteel Paladin, and Balan, Wandering Knight

We also have several cards that can tutor or scry for Equipment spells. These are: Taj-Nar Swordsmith, Stoneforge Mystic, Steelshaper's Gift, and Open the Armory.

I also tried to add some versatility to the deck to have a chance against many different types of deck it could come up against. There are a few pieces of spot removal via Swords to Plowshares and Path to Exile. We also have one wrath effect which hits everything but white creatures in Mass Calcify. What’s more dominating than destroying all creatures except for your own? We also have a potential game ending Cat in Felidar Sovereign as well as a late game White Sun’s Zenith for a hoard of kitties!

The deck can also become very annoying and troublesome with a few one drop white enchantments. Authority of the Consuls will make all your opponents creatures come into play tapped, which hopefully lets you get a few attacks with an Equipped creature. At the same time the card also can get you quite a bit of lifegain if it stays on the board for a while. Sigarda’s Aid fits the theme of the deck very well, allowing you to cast Auras and Equipment at instant speed. Not only that, but the Equipment you control can then attach to a creature for free. Attaching can happen before blocking and potentially gain you life, give your creature Double Strike, or just boost your board if Equipped to a creature that gives bonuses for all Equipment. We can also Equip after blockers are declared to just end the opponent or gain some other type of beneficial effect.

The great thing about this deck is that it is pretty affordable. The commander and the mana base are very cheap. I did put a Cavern of Souls in the deck to help your Cats not be countered, but that card could be easily switched for something else. The most expensive part of the deck is the swords and Equipment. These Swords could be switched out for less expensive options and the deck would still be fun and competitive.

The biggest threat to this deck is wrath effects and Pyroclasm / Earthquake type effects. There are an abundant 32 creatures within the deck so you should have plenty. However, you may not want to throw all your creatures out as fast as possible. Saving one creature in your hand is advisable in several situations just to keep your guard up against a board wipe. We have to watch out for red or green decks and stuff like Shatterstorm and Creeping Corrosion. If all of our Equipment gets destroyed it will be very hard to get back into the game. We do have one Teferi’s Protection which hopefully you’ll have when these situations come up.

I’m looking forward to smashing my opponents with boss chonk kitties and I hope you are too! If anyone sees any powerful Cats I may have forgotten, or Equipment creatures that are missing please let me know.

Stay Safe, and Happy Gaming!
