This week Deadpool tries to right the wrongs he thought was right and Iron Man and Dr. Strange team-up! So, without any further delay, here we go! Excelsior!
Reviews
Peter Parker: The Spectacular Spider-Man #3
This is a lot more of a humorous book than the other Spider-Man books have been recently. Any appearance of J. Jonah Jameson is going to bring some laughs and Kingpin even brings some laughs when he finds some intruders. Most of the humor comes from dialogue and not necessarily any kind of slapstick, but the book was still very enjoyable in a week that was a bit of a letdown.
Secret Empire #9
This issue had a lot more dialogue and less action than anticipated, but it was mostly used to set up the finale. Not only do we get a cosmic cube infused Captain America, but we find out that the other world has just been a memory that Kobik has kept around to keep her company. While the X-men coming to the forefront so late in the crossover is a missed chance, the scenes with Black Ant and Taskmaster were fantastic.
X-Men Gold #10
Seeing Omega-Red in a comic book brings back so many memories. There has been no book impacted more by Marvel’s attempt to turn back the clock than the X-men books. Marc Guggenheim is a writer/producer on Arrow, so if anyone can get Bratva correct, it would be him and it sure feels that way. Most of the book focuses on Magik and Colossus and it will be interesting to see how far down the rabbit hole they go with these call backs.

Deadpool #35
Of all the characters in Secret Empire, I think what has happened will hit Deadpool the hardest. He was tricked into working for Hydra and killing 2 of his friends. He also has his daughter to protect, so in the end I think he is going to try to course correct a bit but I have a feeling that we will see these events have an impact on him the longest of any other character.
Infamous Iron Man #11
I have made it no secret that I am enjoying the two new Iron Man books over the past 3 months. This week we get Von Doom and Stephen Strange together which might be as enjoyable as Stark and Doom being in the same room. There is also the reveal of who has been behind all of the problems that Von Doom has faced since turning good and I promise you the twist is great!
Mighty Captain Marvel #8
I am not sure where this falls in the timeline of books since the preview says they have a plan for the Chitauri, but they took care of the eggs in Secret Empire #9. Unless they keep coming at Earth this book might be a bit messed up when it comes to fitting cleanly in the reading order for Secret Empire and when the book is actually released.
Secret Empire #10
This is it! After 3 plus months we are finally going to see the culmination to the “Hail Hydra” that started it all two years ago. I have a feeling the cosmic cube is going to play a big role here and we are going to see the return of some old favorites and Legacy/Generations is going to kick off in earnest. I have really enjoyed what they tried to do with this crossover, but now it is time for the crossovers to be put on hold for at least 2 years.
