BattleTech first entered the wargaming scene in 1984 as “BattleDroids,” with factions of space-faring humans fighting for control in mech suits. It’s also worth noting that MechWarrior: Dark Age and its subsequent continuations are also part of the franchise, delving more into additional and later parts of the conflict.
Whether you’re new or returning to the battlefield, or looking to get your friends into BattleTech model kits and wargaming, we recommend relying on starter sets and that famous “rule of cool” in hobbying. If there is a particular faction or part of the lore that draws you in, then start there!

Otherwise, start with priming with your undercoat, and then add base coats for the actual look of your BattleTech model kits, before adding contrasts and other enhancements.
