With Paldea Evolved being such a huge set with many playable cards I think quite a few good ones are going under the radar! Let's take a look at some of the most playable but underrated cards!

Artazon

Artazon is a stadium card that reads;

Once during each player’s turn, that player may search their deck for 1 Basic Pokemon (excluding Pokemon that have a Rule Box) and play it on to their Bench. Then, that player shuffles their deck.”

We have seen stadiums like this do extremely well in the past such as Brooklet Hill.

This on the other hand lets you grab any pokemon regardless of type!

This opens up the door for some crazy combinations or just making evolution decks much more consistent by offering a free nest ball every turn.

In decks like Gardevoir or Tinkaton decks even I can see this being extremely helpful. Decks like Lost Box too would really like this stadium too however they already have beach court. Same with Baxcailber decks having either Skaters Park or Pokestop.

The main downside to Artazon however is that it's a stadium your opponent can always use. Which can be frustrating. It reminds me of Viridian Forest which was again a really strong card in a vacuum but was one your opponent could always use.

However in decks where setting up your evolution lines is of utmost importance it's hard to do better then Artazon.

Forretress ex

Forretress has an ability that reads;

Once during your turn, you may search your deck for up to 5 Basic [G] Energy cards and attach them to your Pokemon in any way you like. Then, shuffle your deck. If you searched your deck in this way, this Pokemon is Knocked Out.”

Being able to ramp 5 energy into play instantly is crazy.

This means we have too look at attackers like Wo Chien, Shaymin VSTAR and Slaking V again as they all offer a different playstyle.

We can even mitigate the downside of having to give up two prize cards by playing a ton of disruption cards like Iono and Path To The Peak. For example, how does this sound. We end our turn with a KO on our opponents pokemon while giving them a four card hand and putting Path To The Peak in play?

Sounds rather strong doesn't it….

Squawkabilly ex

Squawkabilly ex has no right being this underrated! It has a really strong ability that reads;

“Once during your first turn, you may discard your hand and draw 6 cards. You can't use more than 1 Squawk and Seize Ability during your turn.”

This lets you have another 6 card dig on your first turn and since it isn't a coming into play ability you can use it if you lead it or searched it off a nest ball.

In decks like Arceus or Lugia where it is an absolute non negotiable that you need to get your evolving V down this can be that extra little bit of draw power you need! In Lugia decks too it has a secondary usage of getting Archeops into the discard pile too which is very very handy.

I have even experimented with Squawkabilly ex in Baxcaliber decks to fairly good results too.

I think in time we will see more Squawkabilly ex usage but for now I think it's underrated.

Luminous Energy

Luminous Energy reads;

“As long as this card is attached to a Pokémon, it provides every type of Energy but provides only 1 Energy at a time.

If the Pokémon this card is attached to has any other Special Energy attached, this card provides {C} Energy instead.”

This opens the door for decks to get rather techy. Giving the opportunity for decks to utilize alternate attackers that only require one different colored energy then you are already running.

For example running a Shaymin VSTAR in Baxcaliber decks since it only requires one grass energy to attack. This is advantageous because in the games where you don't need the different attacker you now have an energy you can use on your other attackers with no drawback.

I’m fairly certain we will see a deck that utilizes Luminous Energy to a good extent.

Grusha

I am such a big Grusha fan! Grusha reads;

“Draw cards until you have 5 cards in your hand. If none of your Pokémon have any Energy attached, draw cards until you have 7 cards in your hand instead.”

This I think will shine bright in a deck that only plays 4 Double Turbo Energy. In a deck like that Grusha will almost always be drawing you up to 7 cards which is absolutely insane.

Or in stage 2 decks where you want to hold onto rare candy but do not have the evolution piece yet Grusha can fill that void nicely!
