Searching Standard: Cinccino ex

Hello and welcome to another episode of Searching Standard, where each and every week I look for new, innovative decks for you to play in Standard. This week, I'm looking at a deck that was recently featured on the YouTube channel of LittleDarkFury. It features Cinccino ex CRI 73, a Pokémon that can sometimes be difficult to damage. Let's get started by taking a look at the deck list.

Due to Cinccino ex CRI 73's Smooth Coat Ability, your opponent might get very frustrated during your game. Smooth Coat provides you the opportunity to prevent any damage done to Cinccino ex CRI 73 when your opponent attacks, provided that you're able to achieve a heads result in a coin flip. This resiliency can allow you to build up the amount of Energy attached to Cinccino ex CRI 73, making its Energized Slap attack more potent. There's no limit to the amount of damage you can deal with Energized Slap with enough Energy, so Cinccino ex CRI 73 has the ability to Knock Out any opposing Pokémon with a single attack.

By using Metang TEF 114's Metal Maker Ability, you'll be able to attach multiple Energy cards to your Pokémon however you would like. While you'll often want to attach it to Cinccino ex CRI 73, this deck does have some great backup attackers, such as Metagross CRI 61. When you attack with Metagross CRI 61's Bounce Back attack, you'll be able to move your opponent's Active Pokémon to their Bench. They will then have to choose a new Pokémon to move to their Active Spot. Metagross CRI 61 also has the Metallic Hammer attack, which deals either 150 or 300 damage, depending on whether you decide to discard 3 Metal Energy from Metagross CRI 61.

Both Genesect ex BLK 67 and Meowth ex POR 62 also have great potential in being backup attackers, however their reason for inclusion in this deck is for the use of their Abilities. Genesect ex BLK 67 allows you to quickly and efficiently evolve your team by activating its Metallic Signal Ability. Meowth ex POR 62 has the Last-Ditch Catch Ability, enabling you to search your deck for a Supporter card to put into your hand. Its Tuck Tail attack offers you the chance of returning Meowth ex POR 62 and all cards attached to it to your hand, while still dealing a little damage to your opponent's Active Pokemon. Fezandipiti ex ASC 142 is usually found in a lot of Standard decks as its Flip the Script Ability offers you a means of catching up after suffering a Knock Out.

This trio of Team Rocket Trainer cards forms a terrific card drawing engine for this deck. You can play Team Rocket's Transceiver ASC 209 to search for a Supporter card that has "Team Rocket" in its name. Team Rocket's Petrel ASC 207 is the obvious choice. Then, play Team Rocket's Petrel ASC 207 to search your deck for any Trainer card. If you don't already have one in play, you'll usually want to search for Team Rocket's Factory DRI 173. While you have Team Rocket's Factory DRI 173 as the Stadium in play, you'll be able to draw 2 cards when you play a Supporter that has "Team Rocket" in its name, once per turn.

The ACE SPEC for this deck is Precious Trolley SSP 185. By playing it, you'll be able to fill your Bench to capacity with Basic Pokémon from your deck. There's also a copy of Buddy-Buddy Poffin ASC 184 that you can play to help find those Basic Pokémon if Precious Trolley SSP 185 happens to be stuck in your Prize cards. This deck also includes three copies of Ultra Ball ASC 213 to help you find any Pokémon you might need, even evolved ones.

Boss's Orders ASC 183 is a Standard staple, found in most decks. Playing it allows you to switch your opponent's Active Pokémon with a Pokémon from their Bench. Play this when you're guaranteed to Knock Out the Pokémon you move in, and try to choose a Pokémon that will provide you with multiple Prize cards. Having a copy of Gravity Mountain SSP 177 in play can allow you to Knock Out your opponent's Stage 2 Pokémon more easily. Be careful, though, as it will also reduce Metagross CRI 61's HP to 150, making it easier for your opponent to Knock Out. Lillie's Determination ASC 192 is easily the best Supporter currently in Standard for helping you cycle through your deck more quickly. More cards drawn gives you more card advantage over your opponent.

Even though it can only be played after your opponent has taken at least 3 Prize cards, Special Red Card CRI 82 can cripple an opponent's strategy if they are too reliant on the current cards in their hand. The last pair of Trainer cards, Energy Recycler DRI 164 and Night Stretcher ASC 196, will really help you reuse some of the cards that have gone to your discard pile. Each of these cards is capable of returning Energy cards from your discard pile, ensuring that Metang TEF 114's Metal Maker Ability can be used to its full potential.

Wrapping Up

Sometimes making your opponent squirm is exactly what you want in a game. Cinccino ex CRI 73's Smooth Coat Ability can do just that, as long as you have a little luck on your side. Plus Cinccino ex CRI 73's Energized Slap attack scales nicely to allow you to Knock Out any opposing Pokémon with ease.
